Compared to August 2010, McCarran International Airport saw a passenger increase of 4% during the month of August 2011. Las Vegas' number one carrier,Southwest Airlines, brought in the most business in the month with a total of 1.3 million passengers arriving and departing Vegas.

Spirit Airlines, the "ultra low fare airline" based out of Miramar, FL., will begin their twice-a-day, non-stop flights from Portland to Las Vegas beginning this Thursday. Fares for this route start at only $37.99.

Ever since Southwest Airlines' acquisition of AirTran back in May, the discount airline has continually added non-stop flights to its schedule including the addition of new flights from Atlanta to Las Vegas and Phoenix, starting on March 10th.

Travelers looking to catch an ultra-low flight from Oakland to Las Vegas now have a great option with Spirit's introductory rates of only $17. The economy airline just added the Oakland airport as a hub and now boasts four daily non-stop flights to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
