WPT Grand Prix de Paris returns after several years of absence

The World Poker Tour (WPT) will be back in France for one of its premier annual European tour stops: the WPT Grand Prix de Paris at Aviation Club de France. The event will return after several years of absence due problems with French authorities. The last time this event was played  was on June 16th, 2006, when French player Christian Grundtvig pocketed €712.500 for his victory. The €10,000 main event, scheduled for May 8 – 13, 2010,  will be filmed and broadcast worldwide as part of the WPT Season 8.

The elegant Aviation Club de France, located in the heart of Paris on the Champs-Elysées, the is home of one of the best and most popular tournaments in the region and one of the top ten gambling destinations in Europe. The club created in 1907 by a group of aviators as a place to celebrate their achievements, offers a variety of table games including Baccarta, poker Blackjack (Parisian Style), Punto Banco, Caribean Stud Poker and more.

Land-based satellites for the WPT Grand Prix de Paris main event will begin at Aviation Club de France on May 1st. In addition, several online poker sites will also offer players the chance to win seats at this event thanks to a series of online qualifiers set to begin next year. Schedules and additional details will be released over the next weeks.

The World Poker Tour will also make several stops in the United States before moving to France for the 2010 WPT Grand Prix de Paris. Stops include the Southern Poker Championship (Jan 24 - 27, 2010, Biloxi, Mississippi), WPT Invitational Feb 20 - 21, 2010, Commerce, California), L.A Poker Classic (Feb 26 - Mar 4, 2010, Commerce, California), Bay 101 Shooting Star (Mar 8 - 12, 2010, San Jose, California), Hollywood Poker Open (Mar 20 - 24, 2010, Lawrenceburg, Indiana) and WPT World Championship (Apr 17 - 24, 2010, Bellagio, Las Vegas).
