World Team Poker announces event at Golden Nugget in Las Vegas

World Team Poker announced that its Inaugural Event will be held at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas on May 19th, 2010. The one day event will feature 40 of the best poker pros, representing 8 different countries, on 5 man teams. Each of the teams will be captained by professional poker players from each country, including Phil Hellmuth, Jr. (Team USA), Co-Captains Johnny Chan and David Chiu (Team China), Men “The Master†Nguyen (Team Vietnam), Eli Elezra (Team Israel), Ben Roberts (Team England), Co-Captains Jeff Lisandro and Tony Guoga (Australia), Juliano Maesano (Team Brazil) and George Kapalas (Team Greece).
The buy-in for each team will be $50,000. Each event will feature an innovative five table shoot out format consisting of rounds of Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Hold’em and No Limit Hold’em. Viewers from around the world will be able to watch the live event for free by registering at Worldteampoker.com. U.S. residents who register for the event will also be entered into a sweepstakes to win a trip to watch the event. The event will be also open to the general public, based on seating availability.
World Team Poker will host a press party at the Golden Nugget Hotel on May 18th, 2010, to introduce the teams. World Team Poker’s season will culminate in a World Team Poker Championship Event, where the top professional poker players from countries throughout the world will battle it out for “Pride, Passion, and Country†and the ultimate title: World Team Poker Championship.
