WSOPThis is what all poker fans have been waiting for, the tournament will keep the entire poker world focus on the results as it runs for over a month in the unique city of Las Vegas. The WSOP 2008 schedule was recently released, according to the organizers the tournament will start in May and this is the first time the tournament will begin and end with $10,000 buy-in World Championship events, featuring a total of eight championships with a $10K buy in. The WSOP 2008 consists of a total of 55 events scheduled to run during 2008, and it will include eight $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournaments, the tournament has also included a second start day for the first of the $1,500 no-limit events to fit all the entrants.

The World Series of Poker has grown to a level in which the tournament is positioned as one of the favorite events for all audiences, not only the poker players and fans who dream about winning the tournament and get the multi million prize pot. The WSOP has also changed the general concept of the game, poker is no longer an activity related to tough cowboys who will shoot you in the head if they loose a hand, after several years on TV the tournament has become more and more famous as its sets its own standards by projecting poker as it is, an exhilarating card game that combines skills, nerves and lots of exciting situations.

The 2008 WSOP starts May 30th with a $10,000 buy-in World Championship of Pot-Limit Hold’em and it will end in July 16th with the Final Table of the $10,000 buy-in World Championship of No Limit Texas Hold’em Main Event.

"This is our most exciting schedule yet,” declared Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the WSOP. "Both amateur and professional poker players will have new opportunities to compete for a WSOP bracelet and can choose from the widest variety of games and buy-ins ever offered in one poker tournament and certainly at the WSOP. We're holding steady at 55 events this year," said Pollack. "But, we've mixed it up a bit to keep it interesting for our players and fans".

The remaining $10,000 buy-in events – all World Championship competitions – include: Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em; Seven-Card Stud; Limit Hold’em; Omaha Hi-Low Split Eight or Better; Pot-Limit Omaha; and a new Mixed Event. The Mixed Event will host eight variations of poker: Limit and No-Limit Hold’em; Omaha Hi-Low and Pot-Limit Omaha; Seven Card Stud; Razz; Seven Card Hi-Low Split; and 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball.

The second event of the 2008 WSOP is a $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em tournament that will run from May 31st to June 1st. Pre-registration for the 2008 WSOP will begin in February.
