- 6-25-2008
The Second Annual Full Tilt Poker.net World Series of Golf will be transmitted by CBS television network on June 28th and June 29th at 2:00 pm ET. The television sports special presentation will cover all the excitement of golf with the format of a reality show, the World Series of Golf will be aired in two one-hour episodes featuring the field chronicles of eighty amateur golfers as they come to Las Vegas to play for a first-place $250K cash prize in an exciting event that combines poker’s high stakes and drama with a golf event. Players ante up on each tee, then can bet, raise, call, check, or fold on each successive shot. The object of the game is to claim the pot on each hole, and eliminate your opponents by getting all of their chips. The event featured a $10,000 buy-in and brought amateur golfers from the U.S and Canada.`The World Series of Golf is about the personalities in the game, and our television broadcast focuses on an incredibly unique group of individuals. The players in our event are golfers that any average guy can relate to. They talk trash, they love to gamble, and on any given day, they could drain a twenty-foot putt with some real money on the line.'' said Terry Leiweke, president of the World Series of Golf.
Several sports celebrities, entertainers and professional poker players took part in the second edition of Full Tilt’s World Series of Poker, including actor and comedian Ray Romano, world-class poker pro, author and television host Phil Gordon, Phil Ivey, five-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, 2000 World Series of Poker Champion and FullTilt.com sponsored pro, Dusty Allen, former major league baseball player, Daniel Negreanu, two times World Poker Tour champ and PokerStars.com pro and Tom Schneider, 2007 WSOP Player of the Year.
