Organizers of the World Series of Golf, an innovative event that combines golf and all the excitement of poker, have recently informed that they have signed an agreement with WGN America cable network to air the event in a series of 13 one-hour episodes scheduled to begin in late May. The 2009 FullTiltPoker.net World Series of Golf will take place from May 11th to 15th at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort .
This exclusive $10,000 buy in event features a unique format that let players bet on each hole with no handicaps or strokes in play. Once players ante on each tee, they can pass, bet or fold on each golf shot. The intention is to win all the money from the other players by finishing the holes in fewer strokes or by forcing opponents to fold.
The third annual World Series of Golf will feature a total of 125 amateur golfers and poker players competing in an exciting event featuring over $1 million in prizes, including a $300,000 first prize. Previous editions of the event gathered celebrities and professional poker players such as Ray Romano, Phil Gordon, Phil Ivey; Tom Schneider, Daniel Negreanu, Rhett Butler, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Erick Lindgren, TV personality John Daly, MLB player Dusty Allen and Emily Jilette, wife of magician Penn Jilette (of Penn & Teller).
In addition to the golf tournament held at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, the 2009 World Series of Golf presented by FullTiltPoker.net will also feature a series of parties and celebrations and a closing ceremony and event held at the Mirage Hotel and Casino.
The tournament aired on CBS last year as part of a three-year deal, however, World Series of Golf president Terry Leiweke says the tournament organizers have decided to sign a new agreement this year, which will give them more exposure and air time.

Awesome. The ESPN coverage last time wasn't enough and I'm glad the WSOG is going to get more coverage.
