Tournament Tracking on Full Tilt Poker

Toward the end of June, one of the most popular websites for online poker players was effectively shut out by Full Tilt Poker. Official Poker Rankings (OPR) tracks and maintains a database of thousands of players and tournaments from multiple poker rooms. They have a basic level of free access that anyone can use but they also have a subscription option which grants a user unlimited access to player searches. Using either level of access someone can search for the results of a player for tournaments played over various time periods. For people who favor tournaments this was a well known and frequented website. The decision from Full Tilt Poker to demand removal of their tournament statistics and players was based on a belief that it gave players an unfair advantage based on shared hand history databases.

Just last Friday, July 3rd, FullTiltPoker.com reversed their demand with OPR abiding by certain restrictions. The statement provided by OPR said they are allowed to continue tracking players and tournaments on FTP as long as every user who logs in clicks on what amounts to a fair use agreement and not display sit-and-go tournaments with fewer than 30 players. However, a player may log in and waive the 30 player restriction and allow themselves to be tracked if they so choose.

If a player does not want to be tracked at all they also have the option of e-mailing OPR support and asking that their own statistics be removed from the site. However choosing this option also gives them the ability to deny you access to their site and statistics.

OPR is not owned by any poker room according to a frequently asked question on their site. However if you ask me I think their site would be a perfect buy for Full Tilt. Full Tilt has already teamed up with a leading online poker training website to provide videos and lessons and now they have started a Full Tilt Poker Academy. What better way to provide more service to their players than to provide tournament tracking. No matter if OPR stays independent or sells to a poker room, one thing is certain and that is the players are glad they are back in business at Full Tilt Poker.
