The Venetian's Grand Canal Becomes Ice Skating Rink for Winter
Beginning next month, Las Vegas will welcome the winter season with a treat for visitors at The Venetian's Grand Canal. The synthetic ice skating rink is part of the Vegas resort's "Winter in Venice" event and will measure 35 x 85 feet.
ÂÂ
Made from a recyclable synthetic polymer and coated with a glide-enhancing liquid, the rink will provide visitors with a once-in-lifetime opportunity to ice skate in Las Vegas, even with real skates. Representatives from the company in charge of installing the skating rink, BH Skating Parks International, says that experienced ice skaters may notice a slower speed than actual ice.ÂÂ
ÂÂ
"The first weeks of December have historically proved to be less busy for Las Vegas,"said the resort's president John Caparella. "With the holidays being such a special time for people everywhere, our goal is to create a celebration that entices both visitors and locals alike to celebrate the holidays with us."
ÂÂ
The rink will be open from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm and the price to skate on The Venetian's rink will be $19 per half hour or only $14 with a resort card.ÂÂ
ÂÂ
The installation of the ice skating rink at The Venetian is part of first-ever "Winter in Venice" celebration, which includes holiday light shows, a 65-foot Christmas Tree, festive music and much more. "Winter in Venice" will be open from November 21st to January 8th.
