The Boston Celtics won game 6 in Detroit last night defeating the Pistons 89 to 81 and a really close, hard-fought battle for a chance to go to the NBA finals. Most people though the Pistons would win game six, however, Boston was too much for the Pistons to handle. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen are the big three players who are guiding the Celtics all the way to Los Angles to play the Lakers in a 7 game series.

Kobe Bryant has been the best player in the NBA this year and got the Most Valuable Player which just adds more recognition to an already stunning career. The Lakers have a pretty good team as they beat the defending champions the Spurs. The Lakers and Celtics have had a great rivalry that can be traced back to the 50’s when the Lakers were the Minneapolis Lakers. They have faced each other in 10 finals previous the 2008 NBA Championship, from 1958 to 1984 the Celtics won every final they played against the Lakers and wasn’t until 1985 that the Lakers won their first final vs. Boston, an achievement they repeated again in 1987. I remember when Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish played against Irwin “Magic” Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and James Worthy in the 80’s, when both teams were almost unstoppable.

I hope to see the rivalry revived in the upcoming 7-game final series, I think in game one, the Celtics will win based on the fact that I see the Celtics having more momentum after winning their series in Detroit, which is a very loud and hostile environment for an opposing team to play in. The Celtics will take that win and it will fuel the team to victory. Sportsbooks have the Celtics listed at -150 on the money line and spread is set at -3. The Lakers are listed at +130 on the money and +3 on the spread. The line is fairly tight so the pros predict this first game to be very close and very defensive, so the total of 193 is also unlikely to go over.
