The Celtics Win the NBA Championship

The 2007-2008 National Basketball Association season has come to an end and the sportsbetting predictions were precise. At the beginning of the season, the majority of the online sportsbetting sites listed the Celtics as the favorite team to win the NBA championship, and their calculation couldn’t be more accurate. The Boston Celtics won game six over the Los Angles Lakers in Boston, Massachusetts. The Boston Celtics have now won their 17th national championship and are the third most winning team in all of sports when it comes to what teams have the most championship rings. The Celtics prevented the Lakers from winning their forth ring after the Lakers Kobe and Shaq era in which they won three titles in a row. The Big three in Boston prevailed by exploiting all of the Lakers weaknesses and shutting the league MVP Kobe Bryant down.

The Lakers had to be the underdog in game 6. They should have been counted out before that after they gave up over a twenty point lead to lose game 4 and go down in the series three games to one in the overall series. The Boston Celtics had played great defense all year long and they showed that last night by winning game six of the series by 39 points. This large deficit also shows what kind of firepower the Celtics have had all year long when it comes to their long range shooting. Ray Allen made seven three point shots last night and the whole stadium just watched in awe as the shoosh noise kept filling the arena. I bet Kobe had a great angle to watch each and every one of those shots go in as he stood their with his head turned. You have to give the Lakers credit because they did come out of the Western division which was much harder to play during the 2008 season than the East. The Celtics have revived the traditions of old by brining another championship back to Boston. Some might say that this win is even better because it came against old rivals the Lakers.

Kevin Garnett was more than excited in the post-game interviews; he had won his first NBA championship. Paul Pierce ended up winning the MVP award for the NBA finals which was well deserved. Paul Pierce gave Kobe a run for his money and proved himself to be just as good. There really is no reason why the Celtics cannot return to the Finals again next year as long as they get another point guard and keep the big three intact.  I will not be impressed if the Las Vegas odd makers list the Celtics as favorite again for the 2009 season, and even if they don’t, I’m sure they will be fun to watch again next year.
