'Stripper Mobile' Draws Attention on Las Vegas Strip
A well-known Las Vegas strip club has devised an inventive way to attract more customers to their locale. People are calling it the "Stripper Mobile", and it consists of a U-Haul-type truck rolling down The Strip with beautiful, half-naked girls pole-dancing inside a brightly-lit Plexiglass box.
This new form of advertising began 12 days ago to attract customers to DéjàVu Showgirls and has become very profitable, according to Larry Beard, marketing director for the Vegas strip club. Beard claims that business has actually doubled in the DéjàVu and Little Darlings nightclubs.
The truck runs up and down The Las Vegas Strip from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and carries a sign with the names of the Vegas strip clubs and their contact information.
“This is what Las Vegas is all about,†said Beard, marketing director for six businesses including DéjàVu strip club, Little Darlings and Hustler Topless gentlemen’s clubs. “You come here to see something you can’t see anywhere else in the world.â€Â
However, there are some people in Vegas that think that this idea has gone to far, namely County Commissioner Steve Sisolak. Sisolak sees this as a safety issue and a concern for drivers as well as the strippers.
"If someone hits the breaks and they're flipped around on the pole, they're going to bounce around like ping pong balls,†says County Commissioner Steve Sisolak. “Secondly, the cars that are near there, it's a distraction. Someone looks away, car's going to swerve, hit somebody. The car could go up on the sidewalk, hit somebody… serious injuries or potential fatalities.â€Â
County Commissioners will be meeting next week to discuss moving the "Stripper Mobile" to the adult overlay district, which is along Industrial near Highland.
