Strategy to Rebuy/Add on Tournaments

WDIAV Online Poker FreerollSo the majority of us have been in a rebuy / addon tournament, and really, you should not have to rebuy or addon. People who do add on are easy chips for you; just think about it, do the pros add on? They should be good enough to build up their starting stack. Sure it’s good to have a lead when you start, but if you know how to play you shouldn’t have any trouble to begin with. Now, Rebuy/addons are similar strategies to my MTT tournament strategies, only except for Early Stage.

In Early stage it all depends on your style of play. I have played rebuys tons of times and know this: People will rebuy, so they will push all in with basically anything. This technically can mean you’re A-10, K-Q can be good, but again it all depends on your poker play, and whether or not you like to take risks. I will call with my A-10 in a rebuy, but not in a MTT. If you do call and run into a garbage hand but it does hit, you can always rebuy, and then have a good read on that player...he's a donk!

Really, add ons are quite possibly the biggest waste of you bankroll you can do. If you are at average stack or even a bit below, there is no need to add on. You can either choose to wait and go all in for a double up, or you can just play it normally. Rebuy poker tournaments can have huge prize pools, and just because it says rebuy it does not mean that you have to play looser and go all in, knowing that if you lose you can just rebuy. Sure you can do that, but it is a waste of poker chips and poor bankroll management skills.
