Strategy for Playing Roulette

  • 4-23-2008

Roulette is a game of chance. There isn't a sure roulette strategy that will make the ball fall the way you want it to. Nevertheless, there are some rules to go by that can help you win at roulette more consistently.

Rule #1: Have no memory

The roulette wheel has no memory of the last spin, the spin ten times, or the spin ten hours ago when your buddy won some big money. If the wheel has no memory of it, neither should you. Therefore, if the wheel has landed red the last 100 times, feel absolutely no obligation to pick it the upcoming spin. The probability of red will always be 18 out of 38. (Hopefully if you’re reading this you know how many holes there are).

Rule #2: Find a single zero roulette.

A single-zero roulette wheel has only 37 pockets, so your odds of winning on a straight bet are 1 out of 37 (2.70%). Your odds of winning an even bet money bet are 18 out of 37 (48.65%) in comparison to the 38 pockets of the other. The differences might seem small, but in casinos playing for real money, every little detail and advantage you can get matters.

Rule #3: Base your bets

Your bets will vary from person to person because they depend on your time, bank account, and how aggressively you want to play. If you want to go big or go home, then place your bets solely on one number, and pray. However, if your goal is to waiver up and down by a small amount, place small bets on many different numbers. If you understand the payouts, bets, and your odds of winning, then that will allow you to place your bets accordingly and in a intelligent manner.

These are the three things I have best seen succeed in Roulette. Keep them in mind your next time playing, and happy spinning.
