Site adds petition asking Kentucky to stop gaming witch hunt

  • 10-28-2008

Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds, owner of the BoycottKentucky.com site and online gaming supporter, has included a page in where any player or occasional gaming fan can sign a petition asking Kentucky’s Governor, Steve Beshear to stop his plan and legal proceedings to seize the domain names of 141 online casinos, online poker rooms and sportsbetting sites. The website, which Reynolds began in protest of the unconstitutional action without proper jurisdiction by the governor and a Kentucky court, lists ways to boycott aspects of Kentucky's economy.

The petition posted on BoycottKentucky.com states the following:

"We, the undersigned, urge you to immediately cease and desists your efforts to undermine Internet commerce and civil liberties in your state and beyond. Your wanton seizure of 141 gaming-related domain names is capricious and has become a source of embarrassment worldwide for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

As Kentucky endures the fiscal crisis sweeping the entire nation, we are appalled that taxpayers must foot the bill for your misguided crusade and we urge you to publicly disclose the total costs to date associated with your investigation and prosecution of this case. Please let us know that you will withdraw this case and re-focus your attention on governing responsibly and the multiple challenges facing Kentucky.”

According to Reynolds, the petition will be sent to Governor Beshear and to the presiding judge, Thomas Wingate, before the continuation of the hearing programmed on November 17th, 2008. Reynolds also calls the online gaming community to support Online Casino Advisory gambling analyst Sherman Bradley’s proposal to boycott the State of Kentucky as a way to protest and protect the Internet business from the local censorship and restrictive controls suggested by Gov. Beshear.

I think we should also promote a "TOTAL" embargo of Kentucky as part of their stupidity pay back. Promote no Kentucky Derby attendance or bets, No travel to Louisville or UK to see ball games, No tobacco grown in Kentucky, No booze made in Kentucky, try not to travel thru the state and definitely don't buy anything while in the state.
