NASCAR officials have released the schedule of events for the inaugural Champion’s Week in Las Vegas. This year's Champion's Week festivities will kick off on December 2nd with the Chasers for Charity Fanfest at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and culminates on Friday, December 4th, with the 2009 Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony at Wynn Las Vegas. Even when the awards ceremony will take most of the attention during the NASCAR Champions Week, fans will have the chance to attend a full roster of exciting events planned for this year. Events include a Charity Roast on December 2nd at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Blackjack Club, and the Top 12 Victory Lap Parade featuring all 12 Chase participants driving a lap in their show cars on Las Vegas Boulevard. The parade will kick off at 3:30 p.m. at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, taking north to Spring Mountain Road before returning to MGM for the NASCAR After the Lap presented by Tissot, which is set to run from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at MGM's Hollywood Theatre.
"One of the key elements to bringing Nascar Champions Week to Las Vegas was creating an event for race fans. This event will bring the drivers and the fans closer together and raise money for charity in the process. We're very appreciative of Nascar's efforts to make this a special fan event that we hope becomes a tradition during Champions Week." said LVMS president Chris Powell in a statement.
This year, SPEED will televise the awards ceremony live from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. ET. Ithe network will re run the Awards Ceremony on December 5th from 1-5 a.m. ET, and from 1-5 p.m. ET on December 6th. The awards ceremony is the series champion's formal celebration. The awards ceremony also can be heard on Sirius (Channel 128) and XM (Channel 128 with the "Best of Sirius") and on MRN Radio.
