Roger Daltrey to Perform The Who's Tommy at The Joint Las Vegas
On Saturday, October 22nd, The Who's iconic singer, Roger Daltrey, will perform the legendary rock opera Tommy at The Joint Las Vegas in its entirety along with other Who classics and classic rock songs.
ÂÂ
Roger Daltrey will hit the road this fall for his very special tour across the U.S. and Canada, where he will be performing Tommy for the first time from start to finish. Daltrey premiered the show in London at the Royal Albert Hall back in March and will now take the legendary rock opera on the road, hitting venues in Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Toronto, California and of course Las Vegas.
ÂÂ
Inducted into The GRAMMY Hall of Fame in 1998, Tommy has sold over 20 million copies and spawned the 1975 film of the same name with Daltrey in the lead role.ÂÂ
ÂÂ
Commenting on his former bandmate's tour, Pete Townshend said, “Great to see Roger performing TOMMY with his band in 2011.  I will be there in spirit. Roger has my complete and most loving support.  Roger is touring his unique concert version of TOMMY using his faithful presentation of the original work as the backbone for a set of wider material.  It is wonderful to hear the way Roger and his new band re-interpret the old Who songs.â€Â
ÂÂ
Although the 1989 tour by The Who had them reprising Tommy live, this 2011 tour is different due to the fact that all of the album's songs will be performed in sequence.
ÂÂ
“TOMMY, an album that tells a story about a ‘deaf, dumb, and blindboy’ who becomes the leader of a messianic movement, will always be seen as a turning point for the band,†says DALTREY. “Within it, I found the new voice of The Who and the band found its stride in making that music, adjusting it, using all that knowledge that we had from jazz and the blues into making it work in a rock way.â€ÂÂÂ
