Sports-oriented cable television channel VERSUS and the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) announced that their current eight-year partnership will continue through the 2011 season. As part of the new extension deal, the PBR will now take responsibility for producing the elite Built Ford Tough Series telecasts on VERSUS.
“We are happy to continue our long-standing relationship with VERSUS. We’re excited to put more of a direct imprint on the production of our events, and will share details about this in the weeks ahead.†said PBR President and COO Sean Gleason.
VERSUS began airing the PBR in 2002 and currently televises the elite Built Ford Tough Series on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, VERSUS will begin covering the action of the upcoming 2010 Professional Bull Riders World Finals in Las Vegas starting in October, 2010. According to VERSUS, over 100 million viewers tune the TV station each year to watch approximately 400 hours of prime-time PBR programming. The 2010 PBR World Finals will run from October 20th to 24th at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
“We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with the PBR for many years and are excited to be able to extend that partnership. Professional Bull Riding is one of the toughest sports around and we look forward to continuing to showcase it to a national audience.†commented Marc Fein, Executive Vice President of Programming, Production and Business Operations for VERSUS.
Since its creation in 1992, the PBR has awarded over $100 million in prizes and currently counts with over 800 cowboys and members from several countries, including the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Australia, and Mexico. The organization features four tours which collectively stage over 300 events worldwide every year and attracts nearly two million fans to the Built Ford Tough Series and Touring Pro Division events every season.
