The National Poker Week was announced by representatives of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) in a press conference held yesterday at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The Poker Week will take place from July 19^th to 25th and will serve to promote the game and advocating for the rights of card players in the United States. A team of PPA supporters and poker pros that includes Howard Lederer, Andy Bloch, Linda Johnson and Annie Duke will travel to WashingtonD.C. during National Poker Week to advocate for the cause and take part in some of the other activities on the agenda, including a charity poker tournament to benefit the USO and the WalterReedMedicalCenter. They will also be meeting with members of Congress to discuss several topics including the UIGEA and the legislation introduced by Rep. Barney Frank.
