Players whining about losing with AA
- 2-5-2008
How many
times have we all heard people complaining about losing with AA. "I
always lose with aces" or "I hate aces" are just a couple of
common things I have heard people said. The truth is AA is the best
starting hand in Hold’em poker, and we should all love to see them. Some people
convince themselves that they are going to lose a big pot when they see those
two bullets in the hole. There are some underlying reasons why we hear
these people complain, and it's not because they are more unlucky than anyone
else who sits down at a poker table. Here are some reasons some of these
suckers will complain about losing with them.
When you have two aces pre-flop don't forget there are still five cards left to
come. You have only seen 2 of the 7 possible cards to make your
hand. To some people, mainly beginners that doesn't matter. When
they get aces they are going to play them till the end no matter what.
The value of aces drops significantly when you take a flop against five or six
opponents instead of only two or three. You can't be surprised when your
aces are cracked when a lot of players see the flop.
Some players will try to get too tricky so they can win a big pot. If you
decide to limp with AA you better have a darn good reason for it. It can
be good to limp when there is a player constantly rising pre-flop. That
sets you up for a big re-raise where you can take the pot right then or take
the flop against probably only one opponent. This play can easily
backfire if nobody rises when you limp, which can set you up for a big loss if
you're not careful.
Stack size, position, and table image of all opponents and yourself are a
factor in any hand. If you have a weak table image somebody may try to
run you over and in doing so crack you aces. It sucks but, if you don't
have a good idea of what your opponents think about you then you can't play AA
in the best way.
These are just a few reasons why people will lose with AA and still have the
nerve to complain about it. There are many more and these are generalized.ÂÂ
But next time you lose a big pot with aces look at what you did in the
hand. Sure we all get unlucky sometimes, but if feel you are constantly
losing with aces there is probably a flaw in the way you are playing them.

It's called"luck",I like to preffer to it as bad poker ethic at times, you will notice bad poker skills in lower level buyin's and freerolls more than your higer stake tables and tourneys, your raises are more respected an you will notice your suited face cards and the "any Ax"are folding more often, only problem with this is it's much harder to come up quickly..
I agree with this 100% !!!! only other thing is, their's not way around get ace's cracked at times, but learn to atack, when you have the weapons, and it truly help.. I guarentee!, you will not win all your battles, but it will pan out, just not as much as we think it should at times, Agressive Poker Is Winning Poker..and I like what you also said about AA going from preflop to postflop, yep you must get your read and learn when to dump then if you are caught...make it to the next one It's don't have to be over!!
