PartyPoker.com launches satellites for the 2009 Canadian Open Poker Championship Main Event
- 2-18-2009
The Canadian Poker Tour, owned and operated by HeadsUp Entertainment International Inc, is glad to inform the online poker community that exclusive online satellites for the Main Event of the Canadian Open Poker Championships have begun at PartyPoker. The event will be held at the Stampede Casino in Calgary, Alberta, from May 13th to 17th, 2009.
The 2009 Canadian Poker Open features a series of events running throughout the week and culminating with the $5000 Heads Up Main Event. The tournament series offer over $1.000.000 in prizes and it’s expected to attract some of the best poker players in the world, including the 2008 Main Event winner and 1996 WSOP Champion, Huckleberry Seed.
The event, which is considered by many as the biggest and most important poker tournament in Canada, will be recorded and televised on The Score Television Network, official broadcaster of the Canadian Poker Tour.
As the official online partner of the Canadian Poker Tour, the online poker site Party Poker will give players the chance to enter the satellites for as little as $4, and play for several special 2009 Canadian Open Poker Championships packages. Each pack includes travel and accommodation expenses and the $5000 buy in to the Main Event.
"This is a terrific opportunity for players around the world to compete in what I believe to be the purest form of the game. The heads up bracket format with best 2 out of 3 matches, $10,000 in starting chips and 20 minute blinds allows the cream to rise to the top and I look forward to crowning a new champion in May." said Kelly B. Kellner, President and CEO of HeadsUp Entertainment International.
Full details on the qualifying satellites can be found at Partypoker.com.
