Party Poker online qualifier wins 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event
- 2-1-2010
Two Party Poker online qualifiers finished in first and second place in the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. 23-year-old Australian player Tyron Krost took the first place and the AUD$2,000,000 ($1.78 million) prize, while 27-year-old Danish player Frederik Jensen, finished runner-up for AUD$1,100,100 $979.000).
The main event registered a total of 749 entries, including 43 PartyPoker.com online qualifiers. Both Krost and Jensen dominated a final table that included professional poker players Annette Obrestad and Sorel Mizzi. The final table began with Tyron Krost holding the second place in the chip lead after Sorel Mizzi; who held 6,000,000 chips. However, Krsot found the way to increase his lead, eliminating Stephen Shelly, Annette Obrestad, Steve Friedlander and Peter Jetten. The fourth place was for Kosta Varoxis, who was followed by Sorel Mizzi in 3rd place.
The final hand of the tournament came when Jensen and Krost moved all-in after a flop of Kc-3h-2d. Krost called, showing Ks-9d vs. Jensen's Kd-6d. The turn brought the 7h and the river brought the 2h, giving Krost the tournament and the $2 million AUD first place prize.
"This is totally unbelievable - it is beyond my wildest dreams. If it is a dream, I don't want to wake up! In total I spent $700 trying to qualify for a package and I have managed to turn that into AUD$2,000,000! I got some really good spots on the final table. When I needed a hand I seemed to get it. It just hasn't sunk in at all how much money I have just won. I have no idea what I am going to with it. I cashed at the World Series in 2008 but nothing like this." Krost said.
"I have to say well played to Frederik. He is an excellent player. It is fantastic that when it came to heads-up there were just two PartyPoker qualifiers left." commented the tournament's runner up and fellow online poker qualifier Frederik Jensen.
