Pacquiao and Marquez fought a classic fight on May 8, 2004 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas where Pacquiao sent Marquez to the canvas three times in the first round but Marquez later recovered to dominate Pacquiao in most of the remaining rounds.  The controversial draw verdict left everyone wanting to see a rematch but several negotiations fell through bringing the latest negotiation to almost four years after the first fight.  Manny Pacquiao will remain at junior lightweight to challenge champion Juan Manuel Marquez for the 130-pound world title March 15 at Las Vegas' MandalayBay. Pacquiao became a famous name in boxing after going on to fight Erik Morales three times, beating him twice before defeating Marco Antonio Barrera in his last outing. Marquez, on the other hand, is willing to move up to 135 pounds just to take another shot with Pacquiao. 

Pacquiao, the best fighter in his division, defeated Marco Antonio Barrera in an Oct. 6 rematch and considered the chance to fight challenge lightweight titlist David Diaz before the Marquez rematch was finally confirmed. But there’s a chance to see Diaz and Pacquiao, the promoters have declared that if both of them win, then they would consider a match in July 2008. A win by Pacquiao in July could lead to the ultimate showdown in September: A welterweight fight against Golden Boy Promotions boss Oscar De La Hoya in De La Hoya's career finale.
