Online Poker Best and Worst Awards
- 2-13-2008
The 2007 online poker
awards were announced yesterday with an award for the Best Online Poker Room of
the Year and another going to the Worst Online Poker Room of The Year as well.
The Award for the best online poker room in 2007 went to Full Tilt Poker. Last year was particularly thorny for many online poker sites after the passing of the UIGEA and only a few sites managed to stay loyal with their U.S customers. Surprisingly all the winners are sites currently offering service to U.S players, including PokerStars and BodogLife Poker, who respectively won awards for the Best Online Poker Tournaments Of The Year and Best Customer Service Of The Year.
The category that no poker site wishes to be “awarded†for was the raspberry for Worst Online Poker Room of the Year, which was given away to Absolute Poker thanks to the Cheating scandal that shocked the entire online poker community in 2007.
"The resilience shown by online poker players in general and Absolute in particular has to be admired, but there remains little doubt that no poker room endured a worse year than these guys," said Marc W, senior editor and flagship columnist.
"Online poker players are not going to disappear, and last year proved that this is a sustainable industry and not a passing fad. Full Tilt Poker was ideally positioned to take advantage of the adverse American legislation, and gained so much market share that it was impossible for us to ignore their substantial achievements over the past twelve months. They were worthy winners on the night." said Marc W.
