MGM Grand's Upcoming Entertainment Schedule Includes Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Nickelback and Many More

The rock event of the summer is coming to Las Vegas when one of America’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands, AEROSMITH, rejoins forces with Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith®.  Aerosmith has sold more than 150 million albums, won four Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  The massive AEROSMITH tour, presented by Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith®, will stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, July 25.  The concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. with special guests ZZ Top.

AEROSMITH, featuring Steven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Brad Whitford (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass) and Joey Kramer (drums), made history last year when Activision released Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith®.  This marked the first music-based game built around the legendary music of Aerosmith.  The groundbreaking partnership united “America’s greatest hard rock act” (Mojo, May ‘07) with the massively successful video game franchise.  Sales exploded and broke records with AEROSMITH reaching a new generation of fans.

ROD STEWART
Rod Stewart returns to Las Vegas with a stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, Aug. 1 as part of a limited-engagement tour this summer.  The tour will provide fans with the perfect summer setting to enjoy hits from throughout Stewart’s extraordinary four-decade career.  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist Rod Stewart arguably possesses one of rock’s greatest and most distinctive voices.  His trademark voice has successfully commanded nearly every genre of music including folk, rock, soul, R&B, blues and more, even managing to breathe a unique modernity into the classics.

DEF LEPPARD, POISON AND CHEAP TRICK
In what will be one of the biggest rock events this summer, Britain’s great arena rock band Def Leppard will join forces with Poison and special guest Cheap Trick for a 40-city North American Tour set to hit the MGM Grand Garden Arena.  The three bands have a combined sales of 100 million albums worldwide, 65 million from Def Leppard alone, fans can expect hits like “Photograph,” “Rock Of Ages,” “C’mon C’mon,” “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” “Foolin’,” “Bringin’ On The Heartbreak, “Nine Lives,” and countless others, to create an evening of rock ‘n’ roll unlike any other this summer.

NICKELBACK
Multi-platinum rock powerhouse Nickelback has announced dates for its North American summer tour in support of its most recent album Dark Horse.  The summer leg of the 2009 tour will stop in Las Vegas and perform at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Sunday, Sept. 6.  The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with special guests Hinder, Papa Roach and Saving Abel.

Dark Horse, the band’s 2008 platinum release, is the band’s first since the immensely popular All The Right Reasons, released in 2005.  The latest single from Dark Horse, “If Today Was Your Last Day,” was released on March 24 and the brazen rocker single “Something In Your Mouth” was the No. 1 rock song in the country.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER VS. JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ
Floyd “Money” Mayweather has returned to the sport of boxing and will put his undefeated record on the line when he faces the dangerous and highly touted five-time world champion Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez in MAYWEATHER vs. MARQUEZ “Number One/Numero Uno.”  A 1996 Olympic Bronze medalist for the United States, Floyd “Money” Mayweather (39-0, 25 KOs) has since gone on to strike gold in the professional ranks, winning six world titles in five weight classes to firmly establish himself as one of the best fighters of his era.  In an era of great Mexican fighters such as Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales, Mexico City’s Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez (50-4-1, 37 KOs) has made it clear throughout the last few years that he is truly the best of the bunch.

FROZEN FURY XII – LOS ANGELES KINGS VS. COLORADO AVALANCHE
The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Los Angeles Kings return to Las Vegas for “Frozen Fury XII” when they host an NHL pre-season game against the Colorado Avalanche Saturday, Sept. 26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.  Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

2009 ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK U.S. OPEN
The world’s top AMA Supercross and AMA Supercross Lites riders will once again compete in one class for one overall title when the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open, the world’s richest motorcycle race, rides into the MGM Grand Garden Arena Friday, Oct. 9 – Sunday, Oct. 11.  Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.  The gates for the Sunday, Oct. 11 performance, the National Amateur Championship, will open at 8 a.m. with racing throughout the day.  Times are subject to change.
