Marcello Marigliano beats Tom "Durrr" Dwan in First Live Million Dollar Poker Challenge
- 11-18-2009
Full Tilt pro and heads up specialist Tom “durrrr†Dwan has suffered his first loss against on Italian sports bettor Marcello “Luckexpress†Marigliano during the Full Tilt Durrrr Live Million Dollar Challenge currently running at Les Ambassadeurs in Mayfair, London.
Both players started the game with $250,000. Durrrr took the advantage after winning a few hands early in the game and kept the things that way for a while. However, Durrrr lost his advantage with around one hour left to play when players switched from no-limit Hold'em to pot-limit Omaha.
At the end of the 500 hand session, Durrrr won 55% of the pots while Marigliano took 45%. But despite the difference between both players, Marigliano ended the session up with $22,500 more than Dwan, taking the $500K pot.
“In the end I won a small amount but I’m happy though as I won with bluffs. He raised a lot pre-flop and you have to play tight but I made some good moves and I’m happy I proved I can play with Tom.â€Âcommented Marigliano.
Dwan will resume the Challenge today against either Sammy “Any Two†George or Ilari “Ziigmund†Sahamies, before playing the final match on Thursday. The action runs from 2:00pm to 2:00am daily at the Les Ambassadeurs Club in Mayfair. The event organized by Matchroom Sport, and sponsored by Full Tilt Poker is being filmed for television and will be broadcast on Sky Sports early next year.
