Man sues over a dozen Strip clubs, Taxi and Limousine Companies in Las Vegas

Several lawyers representing a California man have recently filed a lawsuit in a federal court in Las Vegas against some prominent strip clubs as well as taxi and limousine companies in Sin City for what they consider as “a wide-ranging extortion scheme†involving illegal payments demanded by drivers for bringing customers to the local strip clubs.
The suit is being brought on behalf of Theodore Trapp and names more than two dozen Las Vegas clubs, and limousine companies and taxi companies including, Deja Vu Showgirls, Spearmint Rhino, Cheetah's, Yellow Cab Co. and Checker Cab Co.
According to the suit, a taxi driver was illegally paid by the Spearmint Rhino for taking Trapp to the strip club instead of the one he originally asked to go to. The complaint also alleges that taxi and limousine drivers usually demand payments from the clubs for bringing customers. If the clubs refuse to pay, then drivers would simply divert passengers to a different club.
“Vegas has been one of the top tourist destinations in America for families, but its position is being threatened. This is precisely the type of activity that keeps families away.†says Jay Edelson, lead attorney for the lawsuit.
The allegations also claim that taxi and limousine drivers in Las Vegas routinely lie to their customers by telling them that certain clubs are “undesirable†or “unsafe†as a way to drive them only to the clubs in where they can collect “tips†for bringing customers.
“The vast majority of taxi and limo drivers are honest and hardworking people, but this minority has a stranglehold on the city. It is finally time to put this practice to an end.†added Edelson.
