Lady Gaga, one of the most extravagant and eccentric Pop artists of this decade has joined Madame Tussauds Las Vegas A-list line of wax sculptures. On December 9th, 2010, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman declared "Lady Gaga Day" in Las Vegas. That same day, Lady Gaga's new wax figure was unveiled in Las Vegas and seven other Madame Tussauds wax museums around the world.
All of the figures were worked simultaneously by Merlin Studios' creative team in West London. Each figure was sculpted in clay before being molded in wax. Merlin Studios also recreated color and skin tones and replicated every freckle, mole and dimple, before the make-up artists, hairdressers and stylists gave each figure the final touch. The whole process took four months to complete, and had a cost of $300,000 per figure adding up to a cool $2.4 million in total.
The result is eight very distinct Lady Gaga styles. Each sculpture portraits Gaga's unique fashion style and offers fans different peeks of the eccentric Pop artist. The styles portrayed by Madame Tussaud are: Lady in Lace, Telephone, Harlequin, Kinky Boots, Mini Mouse, Hair Hat, Wired “wing†dress with lightning “eye†and Big Hair.
In honor of “Lady Gaga Day,†Madame Tussauds Las Vegas will host a “Lady Gaga Look-alikes go Free†on December 10- The first 100 fans who emulate the wild and unique style of Lady Gaga on December 10, will receive free admission into the attraction. Anything from telephone and lobster hats, to towering hair and platform shoes, will be welcome.
Madame Tussaud Las Vegas joined seven other attractions around the world in one of Madame Tussauds’ most ambitious figure launches. Other attractions in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, Hollywood, Shanghai and Hong Kong also took part in this Global Launch on December 9, 2010.
“We’re very excited about Lady Gaga’s imminent arrival at Madame Tussauds New York, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas and Madame Tussauds Hollywood. As one of the biggest and most unique talents in the world, Lady Gaga is the perfect subject for the biggest figure launch in Madame Tussauds’ history. All of the styles being worked on are classic Gaga and we’re sure her fans will be delighted with the unique looks when we unveil the figures next month.†said Janine DiGioacchino, who oversees all three wax attractions as Divisional Director of Midway Attractions, Merlin USA.
