- 11-11-2009
Full Tilt Pro Tom "durrrr" Dwan is bringing his “durrrr Million Dollar Challenge†to London to meet three of the toughest challengers in the region in a special 500 hand live heads up event. ÂÂ
The event sponsored by Matchroom Sport and Full Tilt Poker will take place from November.17th to 19th at Les Ambassaedeurs Club in London The challenge issued in July, will see Dwan playing versus three opponents in a series of live heads up matches. The rules are simple. Each participant will have to put $500.000 and play 500 hands with blinds set at $500/$1000. Players can choose between Pot-limit Omaha or No-Limit Hold’em. No player can leave the table before completing the minimum of 500 hands or until the player looses his bankroll.
Dwan, who only a few days ago signed as the 14th member of Team Full Tilt, already has three candidates waiting on the line: Brit Pro Sammy George, Finnish player Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Italian high-stakes player Marcello "Luckexpress" Marigliano.
"We are delighted to be working with Tom in creating poker's biggest ever TV spectacle – Matchroom are always looking to stretch the boundaries and with the introduction of PLO this is a new dawn for TV poker. Tom is a fearless competitor and he laid down the challenge to the entire poker world. Three players have stepped up to the plate. This is poker in its most raw form – two players battling it out for $1million, mano-a-mano. It doesn't get any bigger than this." said Eddie Hearn, managing director of Matchroom Sport.
The event will be recorded and broadcast on Sky Sports early next year.
