Latest Fox News Poll Shows U.S. Residents in Favor of Casino Gambling

Each week Fox News in partnership with Rasmussen Reports conducts surveys related to hot topics and other news. This week the poll conducted was on the topic of U.S. residents' feelings about gambling in their home country. The majority of adults polled were in favor of gambling in the U.S. and also felt that gambling has a somewhat positive effect on the local economy.
This survey was conducted on 1,000 adults from October 13th-14th, 2009 and had the following results:
When asked what type of effect casino gambling created on society, 50% answered that they thought it had a negative impact, while 24% thought that it had a positive impact on society.
When asked if they were in favor or against casino gambling in their own state, the majority were in favor with 52% of the votes and only 37% were opposed to the idea of casino gambling in their home state.
The 1,000 adults then answered a question about what type of impact casino gambling created on the local economy of a state or city, to which the majority thought that the effects were somewhat positive with 42% of the votes, followed by somewhat negative with 23% of the votes.
The majority polled also believed that crime does not increase in the presence of casino gambling with 40% of the votes. 32% believed that crime does increase with casino gambling. Finally when asked if they had ever gambled in a casino, an overwhelming majority of 71% answered "yes" to this question.
