Las Vegas provides free bus service during New Year's Celebrations

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada has announced that it will continue with its annual tradition by offering free bus service will be running in the Las VegasValley for 24 hours starting the night of New Year's Eve.

The free bus rides will begin running at 6:00 p.m. on December 31st, and end on New Year's Day at 6 p.m. The entire RTC transit system consists of 36 routes served by 360 vehicles carrying more than 190,000 passengers per day only inside the Las VegasValley.

Several bus routes on and around the Las Vegas Strip, including the Deuce double-deck service, will be detoured on New Year’s Eve due to anticipated street closures on

Las Vegas Boulevard
. The RTC will offer revised routes, including additional park and ride service, on New Year’s Eve.

The Deuce double-deck service will operate normally on the Las Vegas Strip until the street is closed to general traffic. At that time, the Deuce service will begin operating from the DowntownTransportationCenter to

Sahara Avenue
. Route 116 will travel from the South Strip Transfer Terminal at
6675 South Gilespie St.
to the DowntownTransportationCenter. This bus route makes several stops along the resort corridor and along
Industrial Road
. Routes 201 (
Tropicana Avenue
) and 202 (
Flamingo Road
) will run near the Las Vegas Strip but won’t make any stops on it.

RTC officials wish you all Happy Holidays and recommend all visitors to celebrate responsibly and to take advantage of this free transit service as they ring in 2009. Free rides apply to all RTC bus routes on the Las VegasValley.
