Representatives of the Las Vegas magician Lance Burton have announced that he will cancel a total of 19 shows at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino after suffering an unexpected accident on stage during a show performed last week.
Burton publicist Wayne Bernath said last weekend that the accident occurred when Burton was preparing to do its famous floating birdcage act with Elvis the bird. At some point the bird flew into the audience and Burton came down the stair to retrieve the bird back to the stage. Burton twisted his right foot on the steps on his way to the stage. Bernath says Burton experienced suffered pain and discomfort in his foot but didn't think it was serious at the time and decided to continue with the show. However, Bernath says Burton broke his right foot and that he needed surgery to fix the broken bone.
The Magician went to an orthopedic surgeon and will return to his normal schedule as soon as it is medically possible. According to officials of the Monte Carlo Resort, Burton could be fully recovered from his injury and back on the stage by June 2nd.
In addition, the Monte Carlo has also informed that tickets for all Lance Burton's shows suspended after this sudden suspension will be fully refunded. All tickets are refundable from the point of purchase.
