Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel installs betting terminals inside its poker lounge

"We felt that poker players shouldn’t have to leave the table to place a bet in the sports book, that it can be right there for them. It’s a self-serve procedure done by just pressing a button on the computer terminal." said Jamie Shea, race and sports director at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel.
To place a sport bet from the poker lounge, bettors will have to purchase a cash voucher from the race and sports book. Then the bettor has to put the voucher into a touch screen terminal unit and follow the instructions to make the wager. Players can easily make the transaction and submit the bet; in addition, all the house rules, payment charts and other information will be displayed on the screen.
The Hard Rock Las Vegas had to relocate or shut down some areas for a few months due the works currently undergoing inside the property, so installing a new betting terminal into the poker lounge will also help to solve some of the space problems caused by the expansion works at its sportsbook and other areas. The $750 million expansion plan at the Hard Rock also includes 860 new rooms and a 75,000 square foot convention and meetings area.
"Our book was cut in half to move in some high limit slots. It has impacted my room, so the poker terminal does help. For now, other outlets were needed. There isn’t as much seating now in the sports book, but after the 2010 Super Bowl this will be a bigger and better book, much like the poker lounge. This will be a book unlike any you have ever seen. It will be dark like the lounge and a place where everyone will want to watch the games. Massive amounts of TVs for sure." added Shea.
