Many poker players who play on a regular basis sometimes wonder why the game has so many peaks and valleys of winning streaks. The problem with most players is not knowing when to say “when” at the poker table. Sometimes you will hit a big hand and win way more than your limit sometimes you will loss it all, but the euphoria of winning a couple of poker hands and having a big stack of poker chips can turn poker players into losers. Obviously, the main point of playing poker is winning and making some money, however, some players can easily misunderstand that part of the game, believing that the more you risk, the more you win. There’s a big difference between playing aggressively when you have good hands, and loosing all your money simply because you’re engaged in the game’s frenzy.

Now, this is ok if you’re just playing for fun or can afford to take the losses that come along with the game. Now, players wonder how they can hardly post a monthly profit by the way they play. The truth is simple, there are no magical factors intervening in online poker, the only way to increase your stack is by playing each hand carefully and handle each session as if it's your job. First of all, you have to establish limits and set the maximum you’re willing to lose, also, you have to pick an amount you think you can honestly earn each hour of play without actually having to play an entire hour if possible. That all depends on the level of poker you play, the higher the stakes, the higher you should set your amount of winning per hour. On the lower levels, I would say $7 and hour is a good limit to start with. The $0.25 /$0 .50 tables I would move it up to about $10 / hour. If you’re on the $0.50 / $1 tables I would go for $15 - $20 and so on up the scale, but after all, only you can establish and set those limits, just take in consideration that such decision is related to your bankroll and on the limits you can afford to play.

Treating each poker session responsibly is the only way to go if your main goal is increasing your bankroll, if you’re steady in your limits and stick to them and avoid jumping around in different tables and different limits, then you should be able to work your bankroll and become a monthly winning poker player.
