How to spot the shark
- 3-3-2008
Don’t assume
that every player you cross paths with on the poker table is a donkey. Don’t tell
yourself that you are better than this guy, and there is nothing he or she can
do to beat you, unless they have enormous amounts of luck to do it for them.
The point I am trying to make: be careful with any type of shark! All joking aside, it is extremely vital to spot who is a good play (the shark) and who truly isn’t (the donk). If you spot the shark and can avoid him or her, than you will be more profitable in the long run. Don’t be afraid to play against a shark , however be careful around him/her, and watch everything he/she does.
By spotting the shark: you are proving you are better than him! If you never play with the shark; or give him a mass number of poker chips for that matter, then right then and there you have done all you can to defeat the shark. He has not proved he is better than you, or worse. Thus using a set of systems and specific poker skills, you are better.
Here are a few ways to spot and online poker shark:
1. Check there shark scope; its profit then more than likely he or she is a winning player.
2. Watch for check raisers in certain situations.
3. Continuation bets.
4. Players picking off others bluffs.
5. One who does not explode or go mental when they lose a pot, the shark stays calm.
6. Aggressiveness: A shark isn’t a sissy.
Good luck spotting these shark boys. If you do indeed spot him, you will be very thankful that you did. What would you do besides swimming for your own survival?
