Harrah's Private Foundation and company volunteer employees donate $150,000 to Second Wind Dreams

Employees from Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., and Second Wind Dreams joined forces last weekend to make the dreams come true for three Las Vegas area senior citizens and five elder care communities in a special senior citizen event held last weekend at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino. In addition, Thom Reilly, executive director of The Harrah's Foundation, presented Second Wind Dreams with a $150,000 donation that will give the non profit charity foundation the possibility to fulfill many more senior dreams in Las Vegas and across the country.

"We are thrilled to be working so closely with Harrah's employee volunteers and the Harrah's Foundation. When Second Wind Dreams began in 1997, we had only hoped to find such an incredible relationship. The support -- both financial and extensive volunteer support -- we are receiving through Harrah's and the Harrah's Foundation has exceeded our expectations; their generosity and unyielding support makes these dreams a reality. Their support will also make many more dreams possible." said PK Beville, founder of Second Wind Dreams and geriatric specialist.

Since its creation in 1997, the Second Wind Dreams network has fulfilled over 4,600 dreams nationwide for members of the Greatest Generation, particularly for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The event fulfilled the dreams of three Las Vegas senior citizens and provided five nursing homes with medical and other equipment. The activities also included a flag folding ceremony in honor of Silver Sky resident, Don Johnston, 97, for his active duty service in WWII.

Employee volunteers from all Harrah's Entertainment's properties in the Las Vegas area, including the Caesars Palace, Paris Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas, Harrah's Hotel and Casino, Bally's, Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino, Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon and Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino will continue working with Second Wind Dreams to make more dreams possible.

"Our senior citizens are among the most vulnerable in our communities and ironically, they have the most to teach us; they have lived through challenging economic times, high unemployment rates and budget deficits. Second Wind Dreams honors our seniors and most importantly reminds them they remain valuable members of our community." said Dallisa Hocking, communications manager, CaesarsPalace and Harrah's Entertainment volunteer.
