Garth Brooks set to open 5 year engagement at Wyn Las Vegas

Country music legend Garth Brooks is officially coming out of retirement this weekend to perform  his first show since 2007 at Wynn Las Vegas Encore Theater. The musical show, which is already sold out until 2010, will open today with the first of four performances planned for the weekend one on Friday night, two shows on Saturday, and one on Sunday.

Brooks, the #1 selling solo artist in U.S. History, announced that he was ending his nine-year retirement  in October 2009, after signing an undisclosed agreement with Steve Wynn to perform 4 shows a week, 15 weeks a year, for the next five years at the 1,500-seat Encore theater at the Wynn Las Vegas. Brooks will take a break after the weekend performances and will be back again in Las Vegas on New Years day to perform on January 1, 2, 3 and then again on January 22, 23, 24.

Brooks's will perform a 90 minute long acoustic guitar show featuring some of his own music, plus songs by his favorite artists including Merle Haggard, Elton John, George Strait and Simon & Garfunkel.
