Full Tilt's Heads-Up World Championship
- 5-12-2008
The NBC National Heads-Up Championship has been airing on Sunday’s for the last few weeks. Viewers and fans have been able to watch the field narrow from 64 working its way down to an eventual champion. The hype of the event is enormous both in Las Vegas where the pairings are announced at PURE inside Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino and online at sites such as PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. This year many of the professionals from FullTilt.com advanced fairly deep in the field of 64. A few days ago, Full Tilt Poker announced they would be hosting the $25k Heads-Up World Championship.
This championship will be held on Saturday May 24th and Sunday May 25th of 2008. The buy-in amount of $25k ensures that anyone who plays will have a substantial bankroll and anyone who wins will have to get through what will likely be a tough field. The format of this heads-up event will be a 64 person field; there will be no byes. Everyone will have to play and no one will get a pass in the opening round. For anyone who does not have the bankroll to play a $25k buy-in there will be qualifiers running for $500+35. The qualifiers will run on Thursday, May 22nd and Friday, May 23rd. Once again, because it is a field capped at 64, if you have the bankroll and want to play you will need to buy-in immediately so you are not on the outside looking in once action starts.
It is presumed many of the top Full Tilt professionals will play. Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Jennifer Harman, and Chris Ferguson have already announced they will participate. If you have ever dreamed of knocking out a World Series of Poker bracelet winner or a famous name pro, this event will provide the opportunity to accomplish all of the above. Save your pennies and dollars, make your way through a qualifier or buy-in direct, and take a shot.
