Fireworks to launch ARIA Resort's Grand Opening

Only a few days after unveiling the new Vdara Tower, Crystals and Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Las Vegas Hotel and Casino operator, MGM Mirage is preparing a special fireworks display and ribbon ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the new ARIA Resort and Casino on December 16th.

The opening celebration will begin at around 11:00 pm with brief speech an a cutting ribbon ceremony, followed by a special fireworks show beginning at 11:05 p.m. At approximately 11:50 pm, the 60-story, curved glass tower will open its doors to receive the first guests and visitors.

The Resort designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, is the largest building at CityCenter. The Tower will house a total of 4,004 rooms, 568 suites, a three-story lobby and a150,000-square foot casino that serves as the only gaming space within the complex, several dinning options and luxury restaurants, including New York's Masa, Light Group's Union Restaurant & Lounge, Jean-Georges Steakhouse, Sirio and Jean Phillipe Patisserie, lounges, bars and nightclubs, as well as a three-story 300,000 sq. ft convention center and a 2,000 seat theater set to house a new Cirque Du Soleil's production titled “Viva Elvis”.

ARIA is also one of the seven hotels on Las Vegas Strip selected by Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Las Vegas Events to to serve as launching site for a special pyrotechnic display taking place on New Year's Day at 12:00 am.

“ARIA will be demonstrably different than any resort that has preceded it. We wanted to make sure our guests could experience that difference long before the day they check in.” said said Bill McBeath, the resort’s president and COO, Bill McBeath.
