Festival of Poker debuts at the 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure

For the first time since its debut in 2004, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will feature a series of special side events with buy-ins ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 called the ‘Festival of Poker’. Players will also have the chance to take part in the popular Battleship of Online Poker as well as the new $25,000 High Roller event scheduled on January 8th and 9th, 2009.

The 2009 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will run from January 5th to January 10th, 2009 at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino in the Bahamas. The six-day event is again expected to gather hundreds of players from all over the world, including more than 600 players who have already qualified through PokerStars satellites and over100 players buying in directly. The list of players confirmed at the 2009 PCA include PokerStars Team Pros Greg Raymer, Daniel Negreanu, Chris Moneymaker and Vanessa Rousso, as well other pros expected to attend the PCA Poker Camp.

You really couldn’t ask for a better place to learn more about the game and I can’t wait to go back and defend my title.” said the 2008 PCA Main Event champion and Poker Stars Team Pro Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier, who will return to Bahamas in January to try to defend his title.

Satellites to the PCA Main Event are running on PokerStars.com every day until Sunday, December 14th Players can also take part in a special and final satellite held on Sunday, January 4th, 2009. The ‘Festival of Poker’ will be recorded and aired on several networks in North and Latin America, Europe and Asia. The PCA Main Event, High Roller event and World Cup of Poker final will all be broadcast live on PokerStars.tv and during the European Poker Tour Season Five.
