European Poker TourThe second edition of the European Poker Tour German Open will take place from January 29th to February 2nd. The officials are sure that the tournament is going to be as successful as last year, in which a total of 493 players entered the event. The buy-in for the German Open is €7.700+300.

Well, from a German point of view the German Open is the Highlight of the year. The most famous German poker stars will join, Katja Thater, Michael Keiner, Thomas Bihl and Sebastian Rughenberg to name just a few. But everybody’s attention is fixed on former tennis star Boris Becker, who will play is first major tournament as a member of Team PokerStars.com.

Also Daniel Negranu, Luca Pagano, Noah Boeken, Dario Minieri and the winner of the PCA Bertrand ‘Elky’ Grospellier are joined by Marcel Luske, Sorel Mizzi, Brandon Schaefer and Joseph ‘bigegypt’ Elpayaa are some of the poker stars mentioned as favourites to win the German Open title.

Starting Day 1A is on Tuesday and on Friday the 1st you can watch the tournament as a live stream.

The EPT Season 4 go on with more events, including, Copenhagen, San Remo and Warsaw before the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo in April 2008.

The tournament sponsored by PokerStars, started in September 2004 with seven Texas Hold'em No Limit poker tournaments broadcasted all over Europe. The tour now matches the top events in America and attracts some of the best poker players in the world.

The first ever event in Barcelona featured €1,000 to enter and had only 211 entries and a total prize pool of only €229,000. The EPT Season 3 Grand Final, by comparison, had a buy-in of €10,000, and attracted more than 700 players creating a prize pool of €6,600,000. This made it the most profitable poker tournament ever held outside the U.S.
