Eliminate Distractions during Online Sessions
- 5-26-2008
To
create an ideal online poker environment, it is vital for one
to remove all mind distracting objects. Turning off the television,
radio or fan, can all help create a soft and quiet atmosphere. In the
end, when one is playing poker in order to win, gain experience or improve
his or her play, the best way to do so is in a poker friendly setting.ÂÂ
Therefore, eliminating distractions during online sessions is essential for
serious poker players.
Here is a list of common, annoying environmental distractions many players
face during online play:
- Television background
- Loud noises (Radio, TV, Yelling, outside noises, etc.)
- Fighting/ Arguing
- Moving people
- Music
How to cope with Distractions:
Everyone is different. Therefore, individually different, people handle
certain situations in different ways. Some poker players might not find a
loud television in the background to be annoying at all. The fact is:
find out your own distractions
that throw off your game, or stop you from focusing 100% on poker.
If you are a player who seeks for a complete silent setting during an internet poker
play, my advice for you is to confine yourself to a closed off area. Tell
the wife, notify your kids, and most importantly, hide away the entertainment
from your computer.ÂÂ
For myself, I have found out that I play the best/ most focusing poker whenever
I am alone, with little to no noise in the background. If the television
is on, or any music at all, I lose my concentration on what is happening at the
table.ÂÂ
Remember, every piece of information at the table is important. Betting
patterns, obvious tells, chatty behavior, etc. Picking up this info
requires focus... Focus one might lose while flipping through the
channels.
