If you
check a thesaurus for the word “cosmopolitan" you’ll see that it refers to
a person or object with certain sense of sophistication and internationally
importance, which is not only very suitable for the Las Vegas lifestyle, but also what the developers of the Cosmopolitan are trying to achieve when
they first came up with the plans to built the resort-style, condo hotel in where
property owners can access a casino, retail shops, restaurants, theater,
meeting rooms and clubs by taking a simple  elevator ride down from their residence.
 The
Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino is a project destined to become one of the
greatest and more innovative Las Vegas hotels. The $3 billion development, it
will consist of two glass towers on an 8.5-acre site right on the Las Vegas
Strip. The 3,000-room high-rise casino and hotel is
due to open in late 2009 between the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and the CityCenter
casino complex on the Las Vegas Strip. The hotel construction will occupy 4
million square feet and it will feature approximately 2,200 rooms

The construction on the Cosmopolitan began its ascent skyward in April 2007, but first ideas and designs started to take form back in October 2005 and the developers are hopeful that the hotel will be ready for the grand opening in 2009.
