If you check a thesaurus for the word “cosmopolitan" you’ll see that it refers to a person or object with certain sense of sophistication and internationally importance, which is not only very suitable for the Las Vegas lifestyle, but also what the developers of the Cosmopolitan are trying to achieve when they first came up with the plans to built the resort-style, condo hotel in where property owners can access a casino, retail shops, restaurants, theater, meeting rooms and clubs by taking a simple  elevator ride down from their residence.

 

The Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino is a project destined to become one of the greatest and more innovative Las Vegas hotels. The $3 billion development, it will consist of two glass towers on an 8.5-acre site right on the Las Vegas Strip. The 3,000-room high-rise casino and hotel is due to open in late 2009 between the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and the CityCenter casino complex on the Las Vegas Strip. The hotel construction will occupy 4 million square feet and it will feature approximately 2,200 rooms comprised of condo hotel units and hotel rooms. The Cosmopolitan also plans to have the biggest convention and meeting area in Las Vegas with over 150.000 square feet in total area as well as a 1800 seat theater and a 50,000 square foot fitness center and spa.

The construction on the Cosmopolitan began its ascent skyward in April 2007, but first ideas and designs started to take form back in October 2005 and the developers are hopeful that the hotel will be ready for the grand opening in 2009.

The Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino is intended to have a four-star rating. The entire first tower, with approximately 1350 units, sold out in a new Las Vegas record time, and the second tower, called Tower 8, is now on sale. Designed by the award winning firm Arquitectonica and developed by Bruce Eichner, the Cosmopolitan will include elegant smooth 10 foot high rise ceilings, spacious walk-in closets, floor to ceiling windows, plasma TVs, kitchenettes, extra large balconies with impressive panoramic mountain and city skyline views and high-speed resident elevators. Also, you will feel safe with a 24-hour guarded security and video monitoring. Available floor plans will include 600 square foot studios and 900 square foot one-bedroom condo-hotel units. Prices for the studios start at $559,000 and $1.2 million for the one bedroom
