Cloud Nine, the World's Largest Helium Balloon Ride and one of the most visited attractions in Las Vegas, is offering locals free rides from now and through March 21st, 2010.
The tethered balloon ride located across the street from Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, was grounded on March 6th after high winds caused the gondola to twist and shake. None of the passengers on board of the balloon were hurt, however, Clack County authorities determined the balloon did suffer some damage and grounded the attraction for several days until all repair works were done.
Now, Cloud 9 wants to thank Las Vegas community for its patience by offering free rides during the upcoming weekend. Locals interested in taking a free ride above Las Vegas Strip will need to bring a Nevada ID to the Cloud 9 ticket counter.
March 19th Update*:
For the second time this month the Cloud 9 balloon ride, suffered some damage that caused the balloon to deflate. The company had just opened the ride back up to the community with free rides through this Sunday but due this unexpected incident, the operation is on hold until the company can determine exactly what happened.

How exciting is that ride the biggest hot air balloon ever and over the Las Vegas strip. I would definitely check this out when I go to Las Vegas. The residents are lucky and should take advantage of the free ride as I assume its not gonna be cheap.
