CityCenter opens its own Fire Station
Officials of MGM Mirage and the Clark County Fire Department meet yesterday on Las Vegas Strip to open a new Fire Station at the CityCenter, marking the first time a county is opening a fire station on a resort property.
The station was financed and equipped by Las Vegas Hotel and Casino operator MGM Mirage, which invested close to $28 million in construction costs and will also pay the salaries of three fire inspectors stationed at the CityCenter.
The Clark County Fire Station No. 32 houses a fire engine and a paramedic rescue unit that will respond to calls from CityCenter. The Station will also serve other hotels and businesses in the area and respond to residential calls when needed .The goal is to relieve the burden on other stations and help cut emergency response times on the Strip. Clark County fire department says the station is expected to be one of the busiest in the U.S. Only on Monday, the first day the station was staffed, the crew responded to more than 30 calls.
The station built as part of its deal with the county, will receive its entire crew over the weekend, a few days before ARIA Resort and Casino grand opening on December 16th.
