Chef Claude Gaty joins Stratosphere as new chef de cuisine

American Casino & Entertainment Properties (ACEP) recently named the famous Chef and restaurateur Claude Gaty as chef de cuisine at the world famous Top of the World restaurant located on top of the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Chef Gaty duties as Top of the World’s chef de cuisine include developing new recipes and menu, training the staff, and creating dishes capable to satisfy even the more demanding customers. To fulfill these tasks, Cheff Gaty will work side to side with Top of the World’s Executive Chef Rick Giffen and Executive Sous-Chef Carlos Vargas.

With more than 26 years of culinary experience primarily in French cuisine, Chef Gaty is a perfect addition for the award-winning Top of the World. His resume includes several years working with the Lettuce Entertain You organization, in where he played an essential part in the collaboration and creation of several award winning restaurants around the U.S. In the late 90s, Gaty moved to Las Vegas to join the restaurant industry, working for over 10 years as chef and partner for Mon Ami Gabi restaurant at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Besides his work as culinary master, Cheff Gaty also opened several restaurants, including La Bretagne in Maui, The Hatchery in Petaluma, and Bistrot Zinc in Chicago.

Prior to joining the Top of the World restaurant at the Stratosphere, Chef Gaty took a one year break from the restaurant industry to travel around the world and expand his knowledge, spending several months learning the fine art of artisan bread baking at the San Francisco Baking Institute and training with some of the best Thai chefs on the island of Koh Samui.
