Carlos Mortensen

  • 3-18-2008

Originally from Spain, Carlos Mortensen (Also known as “El Matador"), Mortensen moved to the U.S. in the late 1990's to pursue his career as a professional poker player. He is one of the most highly respected and feared poker pros on the circuit and is already considered as a legendary player in this business “poker pro career ".

Mortensen has won 2 World Poker Tour titles and 2 events at the World Series Of Poker and it was not an ordinary one as it was the 2001 World Series of Poker Main Event where the field was about 613 players included talented players like Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Dewey Tomko (which he beat at the final table during the heads up to be crowned world champion), Allen Cunningham, Phil Gordon, Mike Sexton, Billy Baxter and Johnny Chan.

I'm impressed by his graceful plays and fearless style, Mortensen has been a dominative player and will continue to take over the live action at the green felt. I'm also impressed with his big results such as his Main Event win but also with his World Poker Tour World Championship win in 2007. He's the first person to win both the WSOP and WPT Championships.

Be sure to tuck your chips under you and gear up if you meet him at the green felt - El Matador is feisty, and he's not afraid to go in for the kill.

Here is this player’s statistics;
Cashes: 65
Total Winnings:   $8,339,895
First Place Finishes:  12
WSOP Bracelets:   2
