Canadian Poker Tour crowns new National Champion

The Canadian Poker Tour,
owned and operated by HeadsUp Entertainment International Inc., has crowned its
champion at the CPT Invitational Finals held at the Ocean World Resort and
Casino in the Dominican Republic. The CPT uses a point system based on the
individual results of each nationwide event held during the year, with the top
50 players moving for the televised championship event. Online poker site Party
Poker also ran a number of satellite events awarding a total of seven seats
and the chance to battle for the title.
The CPT Invitational Finals was won by Richard Webb from
"He is a great
champion and I couldn't have hand picked a better player to represent us,"
stated CPT President and CEO Kelly B. Kellner. "His play over the years
has exemplified all elements of discipline, risk and strategy and I look
forward to travelling to poker tournaments
around the world with him as CPT Champion."
The Canadian Poker Tour is preparing for the 2009 season, which will host over
250 events this year. The one hour TV show featuring the CPT Invitational
Finals and presented by PartyPoker.com
will air in April, 2009 on The Score Television Network, official broadcast
partner of the Canadian Poker Tour.
