Yesterday evening the first British Airways non-stop flight from London touched-down at McCarran Airport in Vegas, carrying with it Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman. This exclusive flight is the first in a partnership between the City of Las Vegas and British Airways.
These daily flights are expected to bring in over $96 million per year in revenue from U.K. tourists spending on Vegas hotels and other attractions. This partnership of the city of Las Vegas and British Airways comes after ten years of planning and taking into consideration the number of tourists to Vegas coming from the U.K.
"It's a wonderful partnership that has been begun by this inaugural flight," says Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman. "The perfect trip could get no better...great service." Mayor Oscar Goodman was one of the 217 passengers that landed in Vegas on Sunday evening.
It is estimated that nearly half a million visitors to Vegas are from the U.K., making it the number one source of overseas visitors to Sin City.
These daily 10 hour flights from London will depart at 2:20 p.m. and arrive in Las Vegas at 5:10 local time. The flight back to London will depart at 7:00 p.m.
By May of 2010, passengers will also be able to fly non-stop to Vegas from Paris, France. This twice-a-week XL Airlines flight will be available on Sundays and Thursdays, carrying a total of 354 passengers.
