Be extra careful when playing Online Blackjack
- 3-1-2008
There are a few online poker sites out
there that along with the great, skillful poker games offer online
blackjack. I will be the first one to admit that I have played on these
sites and have done the dumb thing. Playing online blackjack is just
plain dumb. It is 100% a bankroll killer. There is no skill involved and
no form of bankroll management will make you play any better. Even if
someone follows the best blackjack system
out there, they still have a negative expected value in the long run.
Why would anyone play something they know they will lose in the long run? Blackjack is an online roll killer. I know a countless amount of people who built substantial rolls online because of there poker skill, only to blow it on online blackjack. One particular player, who will not be named, won 25000 dollars in one night and happened to lose26000 in blackjack that same week.ÂÂ
Doesn't seem like a very smart thing does it?
Playing blackjack can also affect your poker game. If someone consistently wins at poker but loses a lot of their winnings at blackjack, this could cause some serious tiltage. It is human nature to try to cover your losses. If I lose 400 bucks at blackjack my goal is now to win the 400 back. Should I play poker, and buy in for more than my bankroll allows? Or should I risk it at blackjack and try to get lucky? Now I lose the other 400. I am now down 800 and need to cover myself again. It is a vicious cycle that can and will absolutely destroy a bankroll.
Now I am not saying blackjack is the devil. (Believe it or not) I am just saying that serious poker players and anybody else for that matter should not play blackjack expecting to win money. It is a great game that should be played for the sole purpose of having fun. Yes, wins will come on occasion. But the losses will outnumber the wins. Online blackjack also has the tendency to let a player win at first, and then take everything. So again, I encourage all online poker players to play just that, poker. It will be a great investment in the long run to stay away from the blackjack tables. I know this now from personal experience.
