Barbara Brown Harney wins the Ladies No-limit Hold'em poker event

Barbara Brown Harney is the winner of the fourth event of the World Series of Poker on Monday at Harvey’s Resort and Casino in Stateline. The ladies only No-Limit Hold 'Em poker tournament attracted a record field of 156 players.

Barbara Brown Harney, a multi-talented artist and glass fuser and mother of two teenage boys, took around 11 hours to overcome the large field. Play began at 2 pm and by half past midnight, Ms. Harney had raked every single chip in her stack, receiving congratulations from her opponents and a large crowd of spectators that crowded around the final table on the second floor of the casino.

Ten survivors reached the feature table to battle it out for the championship. The top 3 were as follows:

3rd Place went to Nancy Campos, a property manager from Chico, CA and mother of five, she received $3,662 in prize money.

2nd Place - The tournament came to an abrupt end when Terri Solis' J-10 was busted by Ms. Harney's K-J. The win went to Ms. Harney's higher cards. Terri Solis, a cook from Michigan, earned $5,326.

1st Place - Ms. Harney has won three tournaments at various casinos and also won one playing online. For first place, she received $9,094 in cash and bragging rights as the "2007 Harvey's Lake Tahoe Ladies Poker Champion."

The poker tournament was held over a busy holiday weekend. Since this year's tournament series began last Friday, the poker room and adjacent area has been standing-room only. The WSOP Circuit events continue through November 18th.
